TOTARA ESTATE Located only 8km south of Oamaru, at Totara Estate you can step back in time to New Zealand's pioneer past. Explore the Oamaru stone buildings, stroll to the Brydone monument, feed the early NZ sheep breeds, browse in our heritage gift shop, bring a picnic to enjoy in the beautiful rural grounds, or enjoy our Devonshire teas. Totara Estate sent New Zealand's first shipment of frozen meat to England back in 1882. Come along and listen to the story of the men in the slaughterhouse. There is plenty to experience for all ages - bring the family! Victorian games and activities are available for the children to enjoy. Open 10am-4pm September to June 1st. Adult: $10.00 Child: Free CLARKS MILL Located 12km south of Oamaru, Clarks Flour Mill is a 19th century engineering marvel. Built in 1866 it was originally a water powered mill. The original machinery, spread out over four floors of an Oamaru stone building, is still functional. On operating days you can see, hear and feel the machinery in action. Experience history coming alive. Open every Sunday 1pm-3pm November to April with machinery operating last Sunday of the month. Open daily in February with machinery operating every Sunday 2pm and every Thursday 11am. Adult: $10.00 and $15.00 when operating Child: Free
