There’s individuals that like to chat about following their dreams and changing their life without doing anything about it - and then there’s individuals like Hannah Collins who take a opportunity and make things happen. She left from the corporate world of banking to open her cafe, and she is not looking back. After looking for a central city location for some period of time without luck, Hannah and a developer found each other with the help of coffee roastery, Allpress, and the pieces of the puzzle start to find their place. A few months later Haus, a petite Scandinavian-style oasis on busy Moorhouse Ave, opened its doors (and bi-fold windows, which open up the space during warmer months). Stepping inside this purpose-built, light-filled building straight away transports you into a modern, cosy cafe where the service is friendly and the providing excellent. Coffee here is crafted with beans from the aforementioned roaster for non-coffee drinkers there are smoothies and a fridge filled with cold beverages. Hannah operates Haus together with business partner Jeanette Rogers. Clarity is the order of the day, and everything is done attractively like daily salads, chia birchers, sandwiches, scones and muffins (all made on-site), and bread from Grizzly Baked Goods a few blocks away. Next time you have time for yourself craving a coffee fix while hooning along one of the city’s main drags, visit Haus. It’s the ideal drive-in grab-and-go, though its simplistic flair and amiable ambiance may easily entice you to linger.
